NACPB License CPE Requirements
NACPB Certified Public Bookkeeper (CPB), Certified QuickBooks Advisor (CQA), and Payroll Certification Specialist (CPS) licensees are required to obtain an annual minimum of 24 CPE credit hours of bookkeeping, 16 CPE credit hours of QuickBooks, and 16 CPE credit hours of payroll, respectively.
NACPB CPE Reporting Certification Form
In November of each year, a CPE Reporting Certification Form (Form) is mailed to licensees for the purpose of reporting completion of qualified CPE courses as a condition of renewal of licensure. Qualified CPE courses are defined as any bookkeeping/accounting, QuickBooks, or payroll related education provided by organizations issuing CPE credit. The licensee must complete and return the Form to NACPB no later than December 31 of the following year. Failure to complete or report CPE will result in denial of renewal of the license. If the initial license term is less than the full year CPE reporting period, the licensee is required to complete 6 (CPB) or 4 (CQA and CPS) hours of CPE for each full quarter of licensure during the CPE reporting period.
Self-study CPE
The following NACPB guidebooks and DVDs include optional Self-study CPE. To obtain CPE credit, order the guidebook's or DVD's corresponding Self-study CPE. Guidebook or DVD Self-study CPE includes the online Self-study CPE Exam, grading, Exam retakes (if necessary), and CPE certificate.
Steps to Obtain Self-study CPE
1. Study or view the corresponding self-study guidebook or DVD.
2. Request access to the guidebook's or DVD's online Self-study CPE Exam.
3. Successfully complete and pass the Exam.
Self-study CPE Exam
The online, Self-study CPE Exam (Exam) is used to examine the licensee's understanding of the guidebook or DVD. The Exam consists of multiple choice questions and is "open-book". As you complete the guidebook or DVD, you request access to the corresponding Exam via email or telephone and we email you a link to the Exam. Exam requests must be made between the hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm MT (7:00 am PT, 9:00 am CT, and 10:00 am ET). You may take the Exam at your convenience, but must submit or fax the completed Exam for grading within one year of the stated Publication/Revision Date of the Exam. All guidebooks, DVDs, and corresponding exams are updated or revised each year. You must receive an 80% to pass the Exam and your results are made available to you within 24 hours via email. If necessary, you must wait one full week to retake the Exam.
